I'm a beginner with MARK and I'm having trouble making a design matrix for a study monitoring Black-crowned Night Heron nests. Other than the Gentle Introduction, is there any other source I can use to help me with this. I'm lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, not really. But the 'Gentle Guide' should suffice, *if* you work through it in it's entirety. For your purposes (nest survival), you should work through Chapters 3 -> 8, then skim 16, and focus on 17. Using MARK for your analyses won't prove to be that difficult, provided you understand the basic principles first. Even though chapters 3 -> 8 are not focussed on nest survival, they cover the basic conceptual and mechanical steps you need to master first. Especially, chapter 7, which discusses the linear models approach (i.e., the design matrix). And by working through various chapters, I mean working through - doing *all* the example exercises. You learn by doing.
If you dedicate a week to the process, you should be fine.
