Survival estimates using mark-resight models?

Postby hlee » Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:48 pm

I am new to MARK and have read through the MARK manual. I am having trouble understanding the output from the mark-resight modeling chapter. I see estimates for abundance, but can I also obtain survival estimates?

Many thanks, Brian.

Hi Brian,

Only the Poisson log-normal mark-resight estimator provides estimates for survival (using Pollock's robust design). The logit-normal mark-resight models don't provide estimates for survival because these models assume the number of marks is known. If you want estimates of survival from mark-resight data where the number of marks are known, then you can use the 'known fate' models in MARK.

Cheers,
Brett
