How to include effort in analysis ?

Postby Guest » Thu Nov 20, 2003 4:57 pm

Hi

I would like to ask for help in how to include effort (in days or hours) in my analysis. Simple linear analysis show that in my data set (23 years) the effort accounts for a great part of my variance in the number of captures/recaptures. Therefore I presume that my estimates of p are biased.

I found a couple of similar questions in the new and old forum, unfortunately none was answered – or at least the answer was not posted in the forum.

Many thanks in advance.

Including effort as a constraining covariate is outlined on page 7-30 of Cooch and White (2003). I had a similar problem but found that time based p estimates from MARK provided a model superior to the one with effort constraints.
