Overall Survival SE

Postby cootney » Tue Feb 21, 2006 2:32 pm

I'm fairly new to MARK and this may seem like a simple question but I'm calculating survival using J-S over 5 intervals. I multiplied Phi over my resighting intervals for overall survival, but am unsure how to approach obtaining an overall SE estimate...mulitplicative sends the SE plummeting, additive estimation makes it huge...any suggestions?

Thanks.

You should really read Appendix B in the User's Guide on the Delta method. This will tell you what you need to know. In fact, your problem is covered there in detail.

Specifically, the worked example on pp. 11-15

If you don't know about the 'User's Guide', then I'd strongly suggest heading over to

http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/docs/book/

and downloading the book. Thorough study of chapters 3 -> 8 is generally the recommended starting point for learning to use MARK. More advanced topics - such as the Delta method - are covered in later chapters and appendices.
