maximum encounter history problem?

Postby charles-brown » Wed Dec 21, 2005 1:53 pm

I'm trying to do a multistate analysis with 9 strata, about 112,000 records (encounter histories), and initially 31 parameters. I get the error message: "Length of command exceeded maxchr/2 characters" Does anyone know if this reflects limitations on how much data MARK can handle? I hacked the data file down to 28,000 records, and still get the same thing. The machine I'm using has 3.5 GB of RAM.

maximum encounter history problem

Charles:
The error message is caused by a long input line -- maybe too long of a comment string? MARK is not able to read in all the characters before the ending semi-colon is encountered.

The message has nothing to do with the number of encounter histories, but might with their lenght.
