PRADEL and presence of transients

Postby franca_lf » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:54 pm

My data were analyzed with CJS models and the best model included the transient effect in the survival. Now, I want to use Pradel model to calculate other parameter such as growth rate or recruitment, but I believe that I can´t consider the effect of transient in Pradel models . Am I right? This is a source of bias to growth rate estimates? What can I do?

I thought I remembered something about this, have a look at Sasso et al. 2006: Effects of transients on estimating survival and population growth in juvenile loggerhead turtles from Marine Ecology Progress Series 324: 287–292. Maybe this will get you closer.
