GENPRES: multi-season model interface question

Postby Eurycea » Thu Sep 09, 2010 5:05 pm

In the multi-season model there is a box for # of surveys per season, and the default reads "2,3". When you mouse over the box, it reads "number of methods per survey."

Can you tell me how to interpret this? Say for example I have 3 seasons, with 2 primary surveys per season and 3 secondary surveys per primary survey. Would I then have 3x2x3=18 values for p, and enter "2,3" into the # surveys/season box?

Thanks,

Nate

The 'hint' the appears, saying number of methods per season should say 'number of surveys per season' unless 'multi-method' model is selected. The number(s) that go in this box indicate how many secondary surveys there are per season(primary period). If all seasons consist of the same number of secondary surveys, you can just enter that number (3 in your case). If some primary periods have different numbers of secondary periods, you can list the number of secondary surveys for each primary period separated by commas. For example, if the first season had 2 secondary surveys, the 2nd season had 4 surveys, and the 3rd season had 5 surveys, you would enter '2,4,5' in the box.

It appears that if I have 3 surveys per season, and 3 seasons, it wishes me to specify "3,3,3" and not just "3". Otherwise I get an error about Eps needing a value >0.0. Thanks,
