Program Capture in Robust Design

Postby caique » Thu Jun 10, 2010 7:34 pm

Dear all, by analyzing a RD and using Program Capture, Mark use all primary occasions instead of each secondary ones. Is there some specific way to use each of secondary occasions of a robust design with Program capture in Mark? Sorry, but I haven’t found this topic at this forum. Thanks! Carlos.

I have (even more) limited knowledge of program Captured but the RD models in MARK are pretty straight forward. In addition you can use the MARK book which covers RD models and includes example analyses.

1. download 'the book' - http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/docs/book/

2. read chapters 14 and 15. If they don't make sense, chances are its because you're new to MARK (I'm guessing) - if true, then read/study chapters 1 -> 7 first, then tackle chapters 14 and 15.

3. although program CAPTURE is available via MARK, you shouldn't use it (generally) for closed population abundance estimation, and especially not in the context of the RD. You use the closed population estimators in MARK directly, and (ultimately) as part of the RD - again, chapters 14 and 15.

Thanks! Actually I’d like to use the Program Capture just to compare the results with another older project with N-hat estimation by jackknife. The P.Capture sounds straightforward in Mark when you have proper Closed Capture Design. Nevertheless, my RD analysis has 25 primary samples and I’d like to avoid making 25 secondary samples separated to use Program Capture. It doesn’t sounds straightforward by using 25 .inp Closed Capture Design files instead of one RD file with the same information. I thought Mark could deal with this easier. Sorry, I’ve looked for this information on Mark Manual before asking at Forum but didn’t find anything about this kind of short-cut even on 14 and 15 th chapter...Thanks anyway!
