Suggestion for next time - simply point out in your post that you searched. Many first-time posters to the forum do not, so often replies reflect that experience (and thus contain suggestions that you try searching).
Now, having said that, good opportunity to remind everyone of a few things about searching:
1/ the basic search is very good, but the advanced search is even better - you can restrict your searches to particular forums or subforums (I've just tweaked things which I think will make it easier to specify the correct subset of the board to search - thanks to Dave Hewitt for reminding me of this issue).
2/ I've set up the search back-end to allow exact phrase matching, with booleans. In fact, this is mentioned as the last item of the 'tips & tricks' subforum, but I suspect most people weren't aware of it. With exact phrase matching, and a little trial and error, you can pretty well find what you're after for most problems, including the one at hand (I think I found the cited thread on my second try). It is probably well worth folks spending some time playing around with the search engine - as the board gets bigger (i.e., more users, more questions posted), the search engine - and user ability to use it - takes on more importance.
3/ I'm toying with adding a 'keyword' feature, much like some journals ask you to do when you submit a paper. It will help improve the efficiency, and successful match rate, of the search engine. I've resisted so far because we'd need some system to synonimize choices of keywords (for example, which of the 15 or so euphemisms for input file that I can think of should I/we use as a key word?). Some day...
