This is a fulltime, permanent position with the Washington Dept of Fish and Wildlife located in Olympia, Washington. In consultation with the Wildlife Diversity and Game Division Program Managers and field staff, and reporting to the Wildlife Program Chief Scientist, this position performs fully qualified professional statistical and data analysis work for all wildlife species managed by WDFW. Duties include advising Wildlife Program Managers, project leaders and biologists in project planning, sampling, experimental design and data analysis. Specific to game data, this position has lead responsibility for conducting annual harvest estimate analysis and special hunt permit analysis. Principal activities include: 1) Providing advice on statistical and mathematical analyses, 2) Identifying study objectives and creating compatible sampling programs and experimental designs, 3) Collaborating with principle investigators in data analysis and interpretation, 4) Conducting established and ad hoc hunter harvest statistical analyses and reporting activities associated with mandatory reporting data for big game species and turkey, including estimating non-reporting bias, 5) Conducting hunter questionnaire surveys to estimate hunter harvest statistics for non-mandatory reporting species; evaluating data for accuracy and completeness. Salary Range: $57,240 to $75,084
