Problem with input files (U-CARE)

Postby timkdavies » Thu Jul 30, 2009 4:01 am

Hi,

I am having issues loading certain input files (.inp) into U-CARE.

I can successfully load the ed_males.inp example file and run GOF tests.
However, my own data will not load. Nor will some of the other MARK example files (e.g DIPPER.inp).

After browsing for and selecting the desired .inp file, U-CARE suddenly closes. A warning message seems to flash up on the DOS screen, but this screen closes far too quickly to even read the first word.

My input file is in standard MARK format and runs CJS models without a hitch. I'm using U-CARE 2.3.1 and the MATLAB pack v7.2 (I have tried v7.5, but U-CARE doesn't run if I use it).

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Tim

Hello

U-CARE doesn't accept comments or letters in the inp format.
Only basic .inp files are currently accepted.

You can also use the verify option to check the files.
Sometimes, this option is able to detect errors in inp format.

Sincerely,

Remi's point about U-CARE not accepting letter-codes for states is documented in the book in a few places. For example, see first full paragraph of p. 43 of the following:
