Nest Survival help, please

Postby EricM » Tue Jun 09, 2009 8:19 am

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum as well as Program MARK. I have read the gentle intro, especially the individual covariates and nest survival chapters. The nest survival I read twice.

A little background, I am wrapping up 2009 data on woodcock nesting use of invasive vs. native cover and just wanted to see if the first years data could be analyzed. In my input file, I included 4 covariates; shrub ht in meters, cover type (0 for native, 1 for invasive), stem density, and soil moisture (0 for dry, 1 for moist).

When I run the model using the design matrix per the book, my no. of parameters does not match my columns in the design matrix. I talked to folks more experienced in MARK than I am, and no one seems to be able to figure it out. We thought that perhaps one year of data is not enough to get an accurate analysis but not sure. I will gladly email the inp file if anyone would be willing to help me figure this out.

Thank you!

Send me your inp and a copy of the output that you got and I'll help you work it out. it is most likely that one or more of the parameters are at a boundary but without looking at it, hard to say. jeff.laake@noaa.gov
