Affect of gaps in tagging on number of parameters

Postby LLP_PAH » Tue May 26, 2009 2:18 pm

I am currently running Brownie et al recovery models but there are years within our database that no individuals were tagged. (Summary of situation at bottom of message)

What I have read in the Gentle Introduction shows that the parameters would = l + k - 1 for a StFt, but I am uncertain if gaps in the tagging affected this formula.

If you could point me in the right direction, and provide any pointers for determining the number of parameters for models such as St Ft and Sg*t Fg*t, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

LP

Summary
Group 1: 23 years of tagging (with gaps), and ~40 years for recaptures
Group 2: 15 years of tagging (with gaps), and ~45 years for recaptures
Group 3: 19 years of tagging (with gaps), and ~29 years for recaptures
