My advice was to use pooled estimates of the detection parameters, not to obtain a single estimate of density. If you are unwilling to consider this then you are stuck with Ken Pollock's answer.

I'm sorry! I misunderstood you. I thought you meant that I would have to pool data over multiple study sites rather than pooling data from all the traps within a single site. I understand now. I will give DENSITY a try.

Some of the ideas also apply when you're estimating population density.
