Problems with 'Pre-defined model(s)'

Postby RCulloch » Sat Jun 19, 2004 5:54 am

Hi, i'm just getting to grips with Match and working through the 'Gentle Introduction - 2nd edition.' I am using the European Dipper Data Set - Males only and all the analysis in the example has worked, however, when i get to the anlysis using the pre-defined model(s) there is a problem. When i click on the select models button on the menu of the pre-defined model(s) window as instructed i do not get the options shown on the mannual, i get 2 tabs at the top labelled 'Phi' and 'p' and both menus give two options (.) and (t) below it and i cannot find the models illustrated in the mannual. I've gone through the analysis several times but i cant see that i've done anything wrong, i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions,

much appreciated,

Ross Culloch.

I probably shouldnt have even made mention of pre-defined models in the book, since they should only be used by MARK experts - they're in the program merely as a convenience for those who know what they're doing - not (typically) rookies.

As such, I've haven't updated the book to reflect recent changes in how MARK handles them. Until I do - just skip that part of Chapter 3 (at least the mechanics) - you really shouldn't use them anyway.

I just posted an updated version of Chapter 3, which contains a better description of how MARK currently handles pre-defined models.
