Overflow Record Error - what does it mean?

Postby rirvine » Mon Jan 14, 2008 3:27 pm

I am running RMark for a robust model on 7 years of mark-recapture data on fish in the Columbia River. There are two different tag types (PIT and Floy); and about 10,000 encounter histories. The model still seems to run (and gives reasonable output) after the error is thrown, but I am wondering how serious this 'serious error' is or if it just the result of a lot of data and data structure?

The full error message is:
forrtl: severe(66): output statement overflows record, unit 10 fileC:\filename
thanks,
robyn

That is an error being generated by mark.exe so Gary will be the best person to address it. I'm not certain what file is connected to unit 10. If it finishes it is most likely the residuals file which RMark doesn't use at present. But Gary will have to address this error. It will probably help him if you send him the .inp file that generated the error. Look at the value of model$output which will give you the name of the prefix for the file where model is the name of the mark model object you created. The value will be something like marknnn where nnn is a number. Then you should look for marknnn.inp.
