So, I'm wondering if anyone has had success running mark under wine. Has anyone tried -- what problems did you have?

Actually, the information on Gary's site isn't quite complete - have a look at

The 2 options which have been tested (to my knowledge) are win4lin, and VMWare. I don't know of anyone who has tried wine with MARK.
Couple of things that I do know, though:
1) wine works (for a given application) only if your running GNU/Linux on the same hardware platform for which the application was developed. So, if you're running GNU/Linux on an x86 box, thats step one...
2) the MARK install touches the registry in various places. Since wine is NOT Windows (its merely a Windows API), I'm "guessing" that you'd have trouble installing MARK, and getting it to work. I'd ask on the wine usenet groups first, about these sorts of issues (which are common) before moving forward.
Now, having said all that, you can (i) pick up a copy of Win 98SE for ~ $10 in a number of places - its so old, that its being given away (virtually). VMWare and win4lin are not free, but they ain't bad. If you're going to use MARK a lot, you don't have many choices.
