Recapture only model Vs. known fate model

Postby kunik » Thu Aug 17, 2006 11:13 pm

I'm new to MARK, and struggling a lot. I have three questions regarding known fate model.

1) Is known fate model a special case of recapture only model with p is fixed to 1, or is it totally a different model?

2) Why known fate problem has N occasions with N intervals? Should it be N-1 intervals like a recapture only model?

3) Can I translate recapture only data (LLL) to known fate data (LDLDLD)?

Help!

If you're new to MARK, you need to start by reading/studying the introductory sections (volume 1) of 'the book':

http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/docs/book/

Once you've taught yourself the basics, then have a close look at the known-fates chapters (chapter 17 in volume 2).
