Spatial Dependence Model for point data

Postby loosen » Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:46 pm

I have spatially and temporally replicated data that are spatially dependent and non-randomly selected, which fits well with the spatial dependence model. However, my data are point-based and not transect-based like Hines et al. or Whittington et al. 2015. Specifically, I have presence/absence data from hair snags on bear rub trees. Is anyone aware of work being done using point-data with the spatial dependence models?

I may be wrong, but I don't think there is a spatial dependence model for points in Presence. Jim or Darryl would have to answer that. But, you can look at spatial dependence several ways, you can use your coordinates as covariates (UTM's seem to work for some of the stuff I have done). You can use GAM's or whatever particular smoother you choose. If you want a penalized spline approach that estimates the underlying spatial dependence as well as the impact of covariate on said spatial dependence, see

Thanks for the tips! I'll take a look at the referenced paper.
