questions concerning analysis/theory using program MARK

Encounter histories extension

Postby Gaiter » Tue Dec 23, 2003 3:08 pm

Hi guys,

Just getting started using MARK and have had some difficulty having MARK read my encounter history (red-breasted merganser ducklings) file even after I saved it in Word pad as an INP file. In MARK, it reads INP.text. under file name. How do I just get it saved to only an INP file so that MARK can open and use it?

I would appreciate any feedback or help. Thanks.

Shawn,

That is a common problem. When you default save a file in Wordpad, the program automatically adds a .txt suffix to the file name. However, if you enclose the file name in quotes when you save within Wordpad the .txt suffix will not be added.

Example: "inputfile.inp" vs inputfile.inp - the first name will not have a .txt suffix added, the second name will.

You can also right click on your file name (after it has been saved) and choose 'rename' to rename the file without the .txt suffix.
