individual marking?

questions concerning analysis/theory using program MARK

individual marking?

Postby ditom » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:29 am

Hello everybody, I am starting with capture-recapture experiments. As I work with insects, I cannot use individual markings. Now, I can use only the simplest analysis (e.g. primitive abundance estimation - captured and marked specimens = n1; release them, then I capture m marked specimens among n2 all (marked and unmarked) specimens caught in second capture. Then abundance is n1*n2/m).
I tried to look at features of Program Mark, and I cannot find - do I have to use individualt marking only, or can I run some analyses with non-individual marked specimens? How do I have to make the input file then?

Thank you for the response
