The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s Population Sustainability team is hiring a full-time, 3-year Postdoctoral Associate in quantitative ecology. The Fellow will analyze over a decade worth of camera trap data on African leopards, reticulated giraffes, and Andean bears to study population density, dynamics, and habitat associations. Candidates should hold a PhD in ecology or a related field, with strong expertise in population modeling (especially spatial capture-recapture, open population capture-recapture and multi-species occupancy), Bayesian methods (JAGS/NIMBLE), and R. The role involves leading publications, developing new statistical approaches, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and field partners in Kenya and Peru to develop survey methods integrating camera traps and DNA for population monitoring.
