Research Scientist Position- North Africa

After 14 years of research and conservation efforts conducted in Morocco to secure sustainable populations of the endangered houbara bustard (see www.ecwp.org), the ECWP restoration program is now running at the scale of the species distribution, in North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.
In this context, new research efforts have to be implemented to increase general knowledge on the species and provide useful tools for conservation planning at a large scale and in various environments. In addition, the success of the program and its impact on the environement has to be carefully assessed.
The holder of this job will be an associate researcher of the Ecology team and will report to the Research Coordinator. The successful candidate will be part of the research team and have the following responsibilities:
data analysis / report edition / scientific papers edition / contribution to the ecwp fieldwork and research annual program / fieldwork protocol edition and application / international communication (congress) / conduct regular research meeting (students, fieldworkers) / field ecologists and students supervision.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree with some experience in a relevant discipline and an education well rounded in animal ecology, behaviour and conservation biology.
The successful candidate must have a proven record of achievements relevant to wildlife ecology and research (already published scientific papers). The candidate should be able to work in a multicultural and multinational environment.
He (her) must have good experience of fieldwork, especially in animal trapping, banding and tracking.
He (her) must be able to move in any countries where restoration programs take place within North Africa, Middle East or Central Asia.
The candidate must have thorough knowledge in at least three of the following topics:
Movements / migration / dispersal
Habitat use and selection
Bird breeding biology
Population dynamics / population viability analysis
Biodiversity / animal community
Conservation / population management
