We are offering a fully-funded, four-year PhD position at the University of Zurich, focusing on biodiversity monitoring in the Kalahari ecosystem using camera traps. This project, based at the Kalahari Research Centre, involves managing and analysing camera trap images, employing AI for species identification, and developing statistical methods for assessing species habitat preference, abundance, and interactions.
Applicants should have a relevant MSc degree, experience in data management and GIS tools, and an interest in machine learning, hierarchical modelling, and population analysis. The successful candidate will also engage in extensive fieldwork.
