ESURGE on Vista

Postby ganghis » Fri May 18, 2007 5:42 pm

Hi,

Has anyone else encountered problems running E-SURGE on MS Vista? As long as I right click and select 'run as administrator,' E-SURGE will open, but the following error appears in a Matlab window:

Error using ==> actxcontrol
Control creation failed. Invalid ProgID 'VSFLEX.vsFlexArrayCtrl.1'

In E-SURGE's DOS window, the following appears:

Warning: File 'hObject' not found.
> In actxproxy at 47
In hgload at 150
In openfig at 89
In gui_mainfcn>local_openfig at 216
In gui_mainfcn at 94
In menumuse at 40
In muse at 60

This error prevents me from working in E-SURGE, although the normal screen appears. No error occurs when opening U-CARE or M-SURGE so it seems particular to E-SURGE. (I've alrdeady made sure to associate .out files with wordpad). Thanks in advance for any help!

problem not limited to vista

Postby ganghis » Tue Jun 12, 2007 5:36 pm

Hi,

Just thought I'd add that the exact problem with running ESURGE on a Vista machine is also happening on a laptop running XP. I am quite baffled; ESURGE worked fine on my last laptop running XP but is having issues here. The issue again seems to be with the MATLAB function 'actxcontrol' (see last post).

Excel & E-SURGE

Postby ganghis » Fri Jun 15, 2007 10:40 am

E-SURGE ran fine after I installed an old copy of Microsoft Excel on my XP machine. However, the version of Excel that comes with Office 2007 may present some compatability problems. I've notified Remi...

I thought I would follow this last post by saying that I'm having a very similar problem on a laptop running Windows 7 and Office 2007.

On starting E-SURGE I get the same warning:

Control creation failed. Invalid ProgID ‘VSFLEX.vsFlexArrayCtrl.1’

With a DOS window saying similar errors but with different numbers, specifically:

Warnings: popupmenu control requires a non-empty String
COntrol will not be rendered until all of its parameter values are valid
> In axtxcontrol>getCurrentJavaCanvas at 391
In actxcontrol at 183
In actxproxy at 37
In hgload at 164
In openfig at 72
In gui_mainfcn>local_openfix at 286
In gui_mainfcn at 159
In menumuse at 43
In muse at 68

This is then followed by additional warnngs in the DOS window when I load data, and when I click "Gepat" I get the original warnings again:

Control creation failed. Invalid ProgID ‘VSFLEX.vsFlexArrayCtrl.1’

I post this to solicit solutions, and also to document the problem.

Thanks,

Hello,

I don't really understand the problem

> Control creation failed. Invalid ProgID ‘VSFLEX.vsFlexArrayCtrl.1’

as normally you have executed E-SURGE as a administrator for the 1st time.

The additional warnings are not important.

VSFLEX is a 32 bits activeX which to run, should be executed for the first time as a
administrator under the 32 bits compatibility mode.

E-SURGE normally works on 64 bits system under the compatibility mode, which is automatically detected
under Seven.

Is it the case ?

Sincerely,

Rémi

An additional information, we all forget in our laboratory the Vista system which was unstable.
Since I have seven, there is less problem.
