copyfile error message

Postby roche042 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 10:29 pm

Hi,

I am new to e-surge, so I apologize if this is a silly question. After running a model that appears to terminate successfully... or at least, gives me the message "Optimization terminated successfully". I get a number of error messages (see below) and am unable to fully interact with the results of the model.

Essentially the Draw Estimates screen pops up (after asking you to confirm the model rank) but the model is unable to load or save into the Output section of the screen and there are SEs of 0 associated with all of the estimates (minus the lack of SE, the estimates do otherwise look reasonable). I've worked mainly with MARK, and SEs of 0s are a bad sign, generally suggesting an overfit model, but it seems like these remain zeros even when ('I think') I reduce the complexity of the model.

I get the following error messages following a model run:

"Error using copyfile
Cannot copy or move a file or directory onto itself"

I figured that this could be because I was saving to the E-surge program file and so I changed where the results were being sent to (to the desktop), but I essentially get the same message and simply that it is having trouble writing the base.xls file.

In addition, I get the following messages:

"Error in modme/ecriture+sortie_V2 (line 597)"
"Error in menumuse>Run_Callback (line 2134)"
"Error in gui_mainfcn (line 96)"
"Error in menumuse (line 46)"
"Error in @(hObject,eventdata)menumuse('Run_Callback',hObject,eventdata,guidata(hObject))
"Error while evaluating unicontrol Callback"

Finally, I was actually able to get the model to load successfully into the output section by disabling the output to excel option under 'Run&See'. However, there are still SEs of 0 associated with all the estimates...

I guess, at this point, I'm just unsure if there is a problem with the data I loaded (loaded as basic inp without any letters/comments as per the manual), the model built (I'm following an example in Pradel 2012) or the installation of E-Surge... since I don't really understand what I'm doing it really could be any of the above. So if I could be pointed in the correct direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

Hello,
I know that for some configuration of the computer, the written of the excel file can failed.
It happens on old systems or systems for which excel is not installed.
Sincerely,

Hi Rémi,

Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case here. I do have Excel installed and am running this on a windows 7 64 bit operating system. I was able to almost get through the geese example from the manual, but ran into the same problems... no SEs produced and unable to write to the excel file. So, this makes me think something about my computer is incompatible with e-surge. Could any of my system details or, perhaps, the installation location of e-surge on the computer pose a problem?

Thanks again for your help,

erin

Hi, I figured out the lack of SEs... have to calculate the Hessian matrix. Whoops. :-) However, I still can't get the models to appropriately export to that excel file or append to the output screen unless I disable the excel option. Strange.

Thanks again,
