Maximum data set size in E-SURGE

Postby Perrine » Thu Apr 15, 2010 11:53 am

Hello,

I have huge data sets to analyse with E-surge. I must reduce them but I'd like to know what is maximum number of occasions, individuals and groups that E-SURGE can process.

I have a second problem, with U-CARE, my data sets are compounded of band-recoveries only. Is it possible to test GOF with U-CARE with such type of data? Otherwise, have you an idea about how to test it?

Thanks in advance

There is no theoretical limitation for E-surge for the data sets. The limitation is the amount of
memory of your computer and the computation time. To begin with, it is reasonable to start
with no more than 60 occasions and to increase (if necessary) until 150 (the maximum i know that have been done).

A very important parameter is the number of age classes used in the model.
The lower it is, the bigger the number of occasions could be.

U-CARE can deal with recoveries only with the multistate GOF.

Sincerely,
Rémi
