ORD practice code?

Postby emilylester » Wed Apr 27, 2016 8:13 pm

Hello,

I am trying to re-run an Open Robust Design model on some whale shark data. I initially ran this model in Mark but am concerned that there is a lot of scope for little errors when you are dealing with a large design martix!

I am fairly comfortable with R and have had no issues running simpler models like POPAN using RMark with the help of the really useful examples in the RMark book. But the ORD is a bit beyond me at the moment.

I was wondering if there were any examples of ORD code for RMark?

Thanks!
Emily

I don't personally have any examples of ORDMS. All of the examples for RMark models are listed in MarkModels.pdf which is installed in the RMark sub-directory of the R Library. You can find a contributed example for a similar model CRDMS. Use ?crdms

ORDMS is not a trivial model and is very data hungry. I don't think the difficulty will be in using RMark because the structure for most RMark analyses are very similar only differing in the parameters that need to be specified for the model. The more difficult part will be in devising a model that makes sense for your data and which has parameters that can be estimated well.

It is important to understand that in programming RMark I really don't need to understand the models in MARK. For most models, I only need to define a single line in the file models.txt and a line for each parameter in the file parameters.txt. MARK does all of the work and RMark is just an interface.
