Good news.
As a general piece of advice, (i) if you're working with R/RMark/RStudio, (ii) everything is updated, but (iii) you're still having issues, then try again, but leave RStudio out of the mix. Over past several years of teaching students, the 'underlying problem' for issues that arise is very often RStudio. [Most of the R hotshots I know don't use RStudio at all, for related reasons. But, to each their own...]
