This version of MARK no longer supported

I have been trying to install MARK and keep getting this message as soon as the setup begins: This version of MARK no longer supported.

I have downloaded the old help file, but that did not fix the problem. I am running Windows Vista, the 32 bit version, and did run the 13 Mb setup.exe as an administrator.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!

Other than using Vista, nothing...

There is a bug in the install routines for the most recently posted version of MARK (on both this server, and Gary's site). I can confirm the problem occurs, whether or not I formally uninstall MARK before trying the install, or not.

In the short run, you can grab an older version of MARK here:

http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/dow ... p.last.exe

This was a June 2008 build, and should be more than sufficient to get you up and running (although the helpfiles may not play nice - Gary has tweaked things using a new helpfile compiler since the June build...).

Gary gets copies of these posts, so once he gets a chance, I'm sure he'll post a 'fixed' setup.exe

Actually, there is a clunky solution that works perfectly: the actual setup.exe file hasn't changed since December, but...the calendar date has. There is something in the setup.exe that is 'getting confused' by the recent switchover from 2008 -> 2009.

So, to install the latest version of MARK, simply...

1. download the setup.exe, as before (the current one, not the old one).

2. tell your computer it is 2008, not 2009 (i.e., flip the year back to 2008).

3. install MARK (no problems...)

4. put the year back to 2009.

I just tested this on a couple of machines, and this sequence works perfectly.

Thank you!

No problem - Gary posted a new fixed version of setup.exe on his site last evening, which is mirrored on this site:

Confirmed that the fixed version is now available on both websites.

Also, I'm working on a way to create a series of archived versions of setup.exe, in case any needs to 'revert' to an earlier version (for some reason). I'm hoping to implement this in the next little while.
