MARK 6.0 now in full release...

After a fair bit of 'beta testing' Gary has now released 6.0 into the wild. You can download it from Gary's site, or from the locally mirrored copy here:

At the moment, the new setup.exe still puts the beta 6.0 icon on the desk. Ignore that - its not a beta, but the full release. Icon issue will be fixed in due course.

If you completely uninstall the old version, and install version 6.0, the 'icon' issue is in fact not an issue - the new MARK logo will be placed on the desktop.

Reminder that MARK 6 is now the full release, supported version. Users are encouraged to update from 5.x to 6.0.

Major changes are noted on Gary's site. Minor changes (like small bug fixes, cosmetic changes) are rarely documented/announced. It is generally recommended to install the latest build whenever it is released. You can either (i) subscribe to this sub-forum, which will send you an email when a new release is announced, or (ii) determine the date of the latest build by clicking the appropriate link (left-hand toolbar) on the following download site:

http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/download/

(if you forget the link, just Google 'download mark', and it will be the top of the search returns - enough people have downloaded MARK that it has achieved the notoriety of being the top ranked search return from Google for that phrase).

When I update to ver. 6.0 I get the message

"Unable to register component: :\WINDOWS\system32\Graphdtc.ocx
An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers"

What effect will this have on the software performance?
What can I do about it?

Thanks for any help

Erlend

Generally, this is a message you can ignore. One thing you might try is to do a full, formal uninstall of MARK, and then try again. This is discussed in the - sidebar - on pp. iv-v of the Forward (also note that point 2 of the sidebar s[specifically comments on the error message you report).

I used to get the graphics components DLL errors during installation with MARK 5 no matter what I did. I never noticed it have any effect, but I rarely used the graphics functions. Anyway, I cleaned out MARK 5 completely from the registry before installing version 6 and for the first time did NOT get the errors about DLLs.
