Courtesy of the efforts of Dr. Paul Lukacs (currently USGS Patuxent - soon hanging his hat with the Colorado Division of Wildlife), the MARK book has a new chapter - on closed population estimators. The new chapter (chapter 14 - the current chapter 14 on nest survival - authored by Jay Rotella- has been renumbered to chapter 15) covers all of the basic ground - estimators with and without abundance in the likelihood, as well as full coverage of the misclassification problem that form a large part of Paul's dissertation research.
You can of course download the new chapter by itself on the website, but I'll suggest the following:
1) if you haven't downloaded the book in a while (say, within the past 4 months), I strongly suggest you do so. There have been a number of additions (some big, more small) over that time
2) at minimum, download the new table of contents, chapter 14 (obviously) and the new and re-collated index.
3) if you're still relying exclusively on program CAPTURE, time to read this new chapter.
A collective thanks from all for Paul's stellar efforts.
