Royle Count Models with Cohorts

Postby holtfrw » Fri Mar 30, 2012 5:45 am

All,

I'm working on an analysis of counts of individuals within cohorts of the same species. At any given site, there may be 1 cohort present or there may be 12. Note that I'm not counting cohorts present, but the number of individuals within each cohort present. I hope that isn't confusing. I'm wondering how to set up the analysis in Presence...so far, I have each row in the input data representing a single cohort*site combination and I'm using "site", oddly enough, as a site covariate. In this case, I'm estimating p and lambda for each site, and intrepreting lambda as the average abundance per cohort*site. In this correct? If so, would my per site abundance esitmate equal lambda times the number of cohorts present, e.g. lambda= 1.46, # of cohorts =12, N=17.55?

Any advice would help.
