Overall psi estimate

Postby ReneeLorica » Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:49 pm

Sorry for the elementary question. Does the multiple season model give an overall estimate of psi, gamma, eps and p?

Depends what you mean by 'overall'. Similar point has been covered here before.

I mean, can it give just one 'overall' value of the parameters per model? I've read the posts talking about model-averaging, but I was interested if the multiple season models give parameter estimates for that particular model instead of Individual psi, gamma, eps and p values.

Thanks again!

It could, but it doesn't because people are often unclear on what they exactly mean about an 'overall' number, and how you would get that value depends on how you've done the sampling in the first place, what covariates you've got info on from both the sampled, and unsampled places within your population of interest etc. Search the forum (and may the MARK and RMARK forums too) for phrases like "overall psi" and you should come across some of the previous discussion.

Cheers
