single-season with covariates results questions

Postby ceosborne » Wed Sep 30, 2009 3:15 pm

Hi,

I've been running single-season models for individual marsh bird species surveyed at 329 sites on 3 sampling occasions. I've included 9 different site-specific covariates. It's been going well, except that the output only gives psi and p estimates for sites 1 through 201. Sites 202 through 329 are nowhere to be found. I checked the input file for missing data at line 202 but there is nothing missing.

On top of that, when I was trying to figure it out, one of the things I tried was I answered yes when asked if I wanted to save the last column as the frequency (which I know is not correct, but I was trying everything) and now the file won't open at all, it just stalls on the progress box at 0%.

Any suggestions?

thanks for your time,
Carrie

single-season with covariates results questions

Hi Carrie,

To save paper, PRESENCE only prints the first 200 site estimates, unless you specify that you want more. Recently, I changed the program to print all estimates, so I suspect you are using an older version. You can tell your version of PRESENCE to print all estimates by going to the 'tools' menu by clicking 'set # estimates to print by default', although I recommend downloading the latest version.

If you answered 'yes' to use the last data column as a frequency, you might be able to fix it by changing the number of columns in the pao file back to 3. If you open the pao file with Notepad, change the '2' in the first line to '3', then re-save it.

Cheers,

Jim
