inp file for 2-species occupancy

Postby tjb » Tue Oct 28, 2008 10:37 am

I'm hoping to run some 2-species occupancy models in MARK, but have not found anything about how to structure the .inp file given that there are 2 species (and have been unsuccessful in figuring it out). Is it one capture history with alternating species (e.g., ABABAB), with species grouped (e.g., AAABBB), with separate capture histories (e.g., AAA BBB), different numbers for observed states (e.g., 0,1,2,3 for neither A nor B, A not B, B not A, or A and B, respectively), or something different? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
T.J.

inp file for 2-species occupancy

T.J.:
The final implementation of the 2-species occupancy model is not yet implemented. Darryl is still working on a version that makes it easier to test for competition effects. However, the currently implemented version assumes a pair of values for each occasion. 11 means both species present, 10 and 01 means 1 of the species was present, and 00 means neither were present.

But I think you will find the current implementation hard to work with. Hard to get the parameterization to do what you want to evaluate ecologically.
