problem with 3-way design

Postby hilit » Mon Sep 08, 2008 5:56 am

i have a design of 8 colonies, within which there are neutered and intact individuals and adults and juveniles.

i inserted 32 attribute groups (8*2*2), and i wanted to use POPAN.
But when i try to press on run the program writes that not enough groups were specified in the encounter history.
my encounter history file has 5 encounters, a colomn for each group, for neutered, intact, juveniles and adults.
Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
thanks

Hi Hilit,

Quick check -- when you entered the specifications for MARK and selected the POPAN data type, did you specify the number of groups as 32. This is entry box on the bottom right of the first window, right below the box for the number of capture occasions.

I haven't tested this, but I could see it matching the error message. Details for this are given in the Gentle Introduction in chapter 6.

Cheers...

Yup! That was my question. You mentioned that you have entered 36 columns after the capture history (1 for each group + neutered + intact + juveniles + adults). I wonder if this could be part of the problem.

What happens if you remove the 4 columns associated with the age groups?

Sorry, without the data I can't be of more help. Does anyone else have ideas?
