huggins N estimator

Postby sharpnw » Mon Mar 08, 2004 1:15 pm

I am using the Huggins closed captures model with the Robust design. Some of the derived estimates of abundance that MARK calculates are less than the number of individuals I actually captured. Since the Huggins abundance estimator is the inverse of the capture probabilities, how can this be?

N < M(t+1)

Either you are not running the most recent version of MARK, or else you have the data split up so that M(t+1) is less than you think it is. But first, make sure you have the current version. I fixed a bug with the Huggins-Pledger models about a year ago that may be the problem.
