editing enc hist files AFTER model structuring

Is it possible to edit an input file after manipulating the parameter indices? After spending quite a while adjusting the parameter matrices (all 16 for a burnham model) I have discovered that there are a couple of errors in the eh file which means it won't run. The model structure is saved but I can't figure out how to then edit the encounter history file and run it without having to go back through the whole process of re-configuring the parameters!!! Help please....
