Dear All,
I am looking for a way to adjust the Phi estimate using an independent estimate of philopatry.
I study a bird known to be very mobile and I expect Phi to be strongly influenced by emigration. P may as well be influenced by (temporal) emigration.
There are nearly no dead recoveries and no other study sites, so no alternative to recaptures only-models. P is well above 0.1 and Phi around 0.21.
There is an estimate of philopatry from a stable isotope study.
Now the question: can this estimate be used to adjust Phi in order to get an estimate for true survival? Dividing Phi by philopatry looks promising but as birds in the stable isotope study were sampled only once (on first capture), temporal emigration may be included in this estimate of philopatry.
In other words: is there a way to apply the estimate of philopatry to CJS-results when Phi as well as P may incorporate an unknown part of the true level of philopatry, or is it convincing enough to simply divide Phi by philopatry?
Thanks for any useful suggestion!
