Review of estimation of survival

Postby B.K. Sandercock » Mon Aug 04, 2003 10:10 am

Phidot Forum:

I have a new paper available that may be of general interest to folks using Program Mark. I give an overview of some approaches used to estimate survival in field studies and review the statistics as they have been applied to shorebird populations. My intention was to describe estimation of survival for someone new to the field such as a starting graduate student. I offer some recommendations that may be useful for students designing new studies and considering use of mark-recapture approaches.

Sandercock, B.K. 2003. Estimation of survival rates for wader populations: a review of mark-recapture methods. Wader Study Group Bulletin 100: 163-174.

I post this notice here because the paper is in a small journal that may be overlooked. Hope you find the article useful.

Thanks, Brett.
