Robust Design

Postby Chopper » Fri Jun 10, 2005 8:48 pm

I’m trying to run the Robust design-closed captures model for some mark recapture data on a spp of rat. The study was carried out over three months (each month a separate session), each session was run for 5 continuous nights. I have left the link function and Var.Estimation on their default values.

The confusion is with the output file-estimates of real parameters, the capture probability for the 5th and final night of each of the 3 sessions =1?
Also the population Estimates (N) are just the number of individuals captured for each session and not estimates?

I'm unsure if its the wrong model to use or whether theres a problem with the encounter histories file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Last p = 1

Lee:
You have to put some constraint on the last p (initial capture probability). The models of Otis et al. (1978) provide some examples. M0 has all p and c parameters the same, Mb has all p's the same and all c's the same, and Mt has the p(i) = c(i). By not putting any constraints on the last p, you end up with N-hat = M(t+1) which is the number of animals captured in that primary session.
