Trend model

Postby Ems » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:52 am

Hi!

Is it correctly thought, that if time model does not fit, then I can not use trend model either?

I could perhaps continue this question.

I think trend model is based on time model, so the time model should fit to use trend model, but I am not sure.

Is it even possible to expect good results, if I have a very big number of marked individuals but only few recaptures or recoveries? At least the recapture probabilities are very low in this case.

I have tried Burnhams livedead-model. To test the fit I have used bootstrap GOF-testing.

Ok, maybe this was not so good question.
For a numerical example: I would have some 10000 individuals marked young and about 400 recoveries/recaptures.
individuals marked adults I would have 90 and only below 10 individuals recaptured/recovered dead.

In book it is recommended to analyse individuals marked adult and young together, but in livedead models if I understood correctly it is not always necessary.

So do you no any good analysis for a case, which has so much data in the numbers of marked animals but then again quite little when thinking recaptures? I am interested in same kind of questions as the flood-example.

Luckily I have one better data in the numbers of recaptures (but different species), if this example is not very convinsing to analyse.
Thank you.
