POPAN and GOF

Postby SBeatham » Mon Apr 11, 2011 10:43 am

Hi, me again,

I have done some GOF testing in U-Care on my data and my c-hat is 0.6. My model with the lowest AIC is phi(.)p(g*yr)pent(g*s*yr) so how does the C-hat of phi(t)p(t) assess the fit of this model? Also I I understand the result means my data is underdispersed, but I'm not sure why. Is it because I have high recapture rates but few animals (50 over 8 occasions)?. I would have expected with my lack of data that it would be overdispersed. In Chapter 18 of 'A gentle introduction' it says that residual plots are not useful for individual capture histories again I am not sure why this is the case. If I cannot use residuals how else can I find out what is going on with my data? All of the tests in U-Care were non-significant for heterogenity though my lack of data was flagged on every test.

Hope you can help

Thank you

Sarah
