abundance form dead recoveries

Postby ebelda » Mon Dec 06, 2010 4:29 am

Does anybody know how to estimate abundance from dead recoveries? It must be an easy question but I am new in this subject. We would like to simulate a tagging experiment to estimate abundance for a harvested species but the only possibility to get "recaptures" are dead recoveries.

Thanks in advance

Given a set of assumptions and various conditions, a form of Lincoln-Petersen can be used. See recent papers by R. Alisauskas et al. For example, simply Google 'alisauskas recoveries abundance' and you'll find a chapter in a recent proceedings which deals with the issue in depth.
