Nest survival models

questions concerning analysis/theory using program MARK

Nest survival models

Postby catferreira » Mon Nov 15, 2010 8:41 am

I'm analysing nest survival data and I've got several cases similar to this:

i = 1 j = 3 k = 3 fate = 1

which the help file states that it" is invalid because the nest was observed both present and destroyed on day 3." Could anybody tell me if this means program MARK doesn't consider these rows (even if I should introduce them) or if I shouldn't include this data at all?
Any help is welcome.
Thank you very much.

Catarina,
this means that you should consider changing your input file before running MARK at all. j should be the last day the nest was checked and not destroyed, sometimes called "last day active", thus j<k. j=k is only true for successful nests.
