Estimating variance for Population Size

Postby JPauli » Fri Sep 10, 2004 6:35 pm

I am currently studying black-tailed prairie dog populations in northeastern Wyoming. Using MARK, I have already estimated N-hats and calculated prairie dog densities using MMDM. Because prairie dog colonies are easily delineated, I was hoping to estimate the entire population size within each colony. I was also hoping to calculate a variance measure for each population estimate. Is there a way for me to simply 'convert' the variance associated with my densities estimates to variances for my population estimates.

Any suggestions that you may have would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Jon
