importing design matrix in simulation routine

Postby sixtystrat » Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:17 pm

As I referred to in an earlier post, I am having trouble using anything other than a PIM matrix in the simulation routine. Even when I use the Burnham model as suggested the same thing happens. Any ideas? I need to use a trend model which is not possible with a pim matrix. THanks!

My guess is you're forgetting that if you use a DM, you'll need to specify the beta values on the logit scale, not using the default identity link. If you try simulating under a DM with beta's entered correctly, and specified, on the logit scale, works fine. If you try it on the identity scale, crash and burn. If you think about it for more than 30 seconds, you should understand why.

You're right. I only thought about it for 29 seconds.

I haven't even gotten to the beta values yet. I simply constructed a design matrix, saved it as a file, and tried to import it as the true model. At that point it crashes regardless what link I use.

Now I understand what you're trying to do. In fact, you can't import the DM by itself - you can import a model from another analysis, where said model has the DM you want. This is described in section A.3 of Appendix A.

Okay. I'll give that a try. Thanks!
