I am working with the Huggins Closed Captures data type with 4 occasions. I am interested in estimating population size.
I would like to access trap dependence (trap-happy vs. trap-shy). I understand that a "trap-happy" animal is more likely to be caught again after being caught once; a "trap-shy" animal is less likely to be caught again after being caught once.
Can someone give a brief explanation and/or examples of the patterns of capture (p) and recapture rates (c) for trap-happy versus trap-shy animals? The MARK book uses the terms "trap dependence", "trap-happy" and "trap-shy" but I couldn't find any further details.
Thanks for your help,
Becky
