Referencing the MARK book if no primary literature referred

Postby annaren » Fri Sep 12, 2008 5:39 am

I see in the stcky regarding the Gentle inro to MARK book that you recommend not directly citing the book but the primary literature it refers to. However, in chapter 5 the information regarding the median c hat method there are no references sources and to the best of my knowledge no primary literature published on it. Wouuld it be ok to cite this chapter from the book in this case.
Thanks,
Anna

I would prefer not. What I've recommended in past for the median c-hat is that people just use the canonical MARK citation (White and Burnham 1999). The median c-hat is fully documented in the helpfile that comes with MARK, and as such, citing MARK is the same as citing the helpfile, which is where the median c-hat is referenced.
